| Details: | Sixteen of the Grade 8 strings students will take part in a music festival that draws young musicians from many schools in the province. They will perform for several knowledgeable strings teachers who will adjudicate and coach them towards developing skills on chosen repertoire. An opportunity will be provided for this ensemble to rehearse with other students within a large string orchestra setting. They will also attend a concert presented by professional level musicians and take part in some social activities. Students will travel by SMUS bus to Departure Bay in Nanaimo on Friday morning April 20th. They will travel to Whistler from Horseshoe Bay by motor coach. Their lodging is booked at the Delta Whistler located in the village. The travel back to Vancouver Island will take place through passage on the 4:00 p.m. ferry (Sunday April 22) from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay. Expected arrival time at SMUS is 6:15 p.m. that evening. Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Mollenhauer and Mr. Floyd will accompany the students. |
