| Details: | Today is the Grade 8 Community Service Day. Every year we attempt to improve our level of engagement while keeping in mind the needs of our local community, our school, and the specific students involved. We aim to follow an experiential learning model where the students are engaged in meaningful activities and can learn more about our community in addition to learning about their own interaction with some of the challenges within Victoria. Based on needs of our community combined with the areas of interest and availability, all students and staff will be divided into groups of approximately 10-12 students and one/two staff members. Students are asked to dress appropriately (including closed-toed shoes) as they will be working with some of the marginalized people within our community. They are likely to be inside for most of the activities, however, they should be dressed for the weather. There is a chance their clothes will get dirty. Students should be back to school for lunch. |
